Located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir and situated on Mount Amarnath, the Amarnath caves
(Hindi , Urdu: are one of the most famous shrines in Hinduism.
Dedicated to the god Shiva, the shrine is said to be over 5,000 years
old. The shrine forms an important part of Hinduism.
Inside the main Amarnath cave lies an ice stalagmite resembling the Shiva Linga, which waxes during May to August and gradually wanes thereafter.This lingam is said to grow and shrink with the phases of the moon, reaching its height during the summer festival. According to Hindu mythology, this is the cave where Shiva explained the secret of life and eternity to his divine consort Parvati. Two other ice formations represent Parvati and Shiva’s son, Ganesha.

The cave is situated at an altitude of 3,888 m (12,756 ft), about
141 km (88 mi) from Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The
Central Reserve Police Force, Indian Army and Indian Paramilitary Forces
maintain a strong presence in the region due to security concerns.
4 Nights/ 5 DaysDay 01 Srinagar / BaltalOn arrival in Srinagar drive direct to Baltal via Sonamarg. The distance of about 120 kms will be covered in about 3-½ hrs. Rest of the day free at Baltal for acclimatization and prepare for next day’s trek to Amarnath Cave. Dinner overnight in tents at Baltal. Day 02 Baltal / Amarnath Cave / BaltalAfter very early breakfast trek upwards to Amarnath cave for darshan. The route is ascending right upto the cave. Have a dip in the ice water of Amarnath stream, which floes outside the cave. Inside the cave there is scenery of calm tranquility of white and glistering three massive Lingmas stand erect symbol of Lord Shiva, Parvathi and Ganesh. After darshan return back to Baltal. Approx. 25 kms (leave morning at 0530 and arrive back at 1930 hrs). Dinner overnight in tents.

AMARNATH YATRA TOUR FROM PAHALGAMDay 01 Delhi / Srinagar / PahalgamArrive Srinagar. On arrival drive to Pahalgam (Valley of Shepherds ) . The total distance of about 115 kms will be covered in about 3 hrs. Enroute visiting Saffron fields, Awantipura ruins (1100 years old temple of Lord Vishnu built by King Awantiwareman),see the beautiful countryside on the way and lot of rice fields. Drive through the pine forest. Arrive Pahalgam enjoy your pack lunch on the bank of Lidder Stream. Have bridle walks and feed your cameras with the picture of magnificent view of mountains. Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel at Pahalgam.Day 02 Pahalgam / Chandanwari / SheeshnagLeave Pahalgam (Valley of Shepherds) for Chandanwari. Pahalgam is the best base for most of the treks. Chandanwari (2896 Mts.) is a small shut off valley at the junction of Sheshnag stream and the stream for Astanmarg. Further trek to Sheshnag is about 13 kms. (3576 Mts.) the trial climbs the Pisu Ghati and then climbs gradually to the Sheshnag lake. Sheshnag is one of the windiest place in this valley. The distance will be covered in about 5 hrs.Dinner and overnight stay in tents at Sheshnag.Day 03 Sheshnag / PanchtarniThe 13 kms trek from Sheshnag to Panchtarani (3657 Mts.) will be covered in about 5 hrs. The walk is through Mahagunas Pass (3200 Mts.) and then a gradual walk to Panchtarani. Dinner and overnight stay in tents at Panchtarni
